Jan Lammers won the 1978 European Title in Formula 3 after winning the Dutch Touring Car championship and competing in Formula Ford. What followed were four difficult Formula 1 seasons with small teams. In 1983 he made the move to sportscars. Despite strong performances in many other raceclasses, he now is one of the most successful sportscar drivers ever. After victories at Le Mans and Daytona in the American, Japanese and worldchampionship, he started the Racing for Holland team in 2001 with which he won the FIA Sportscar Championship last year.
